What could the incentive be worth?
The incentive is not a fixed rebate percentage. Its value depends on the approved calculation method, usable capacity, project configuration, certificate market price and whether new solar is included.

Before you invest.
Is this a guaranteed 20%–50% rebate?
No. Market examples may show savings in that range for some projects, but the NSW incentive is certificate-based rather than a fixed percentage. Actual value depends on the project and certificate market.
Can a battery reduce our electricity costs?
Often, yes — particularly where a site has high demand charges, strong daytime solar production, expensive peak usage or flexible loads. The result must be modelled from interval data; savings are not the same for every business.
Can BESS4 be combined with federal battery support?
The NSW Government’s published position allows stacking for eligible BESS4 batteries under 100 kWh, subject to both schemes’ final requirements.
Do we need new solar?
Not necessarily. The published position includes a lower incentive for battery-only installations and a standard incentive where new solar is installed. Project economics and eligibility should be assessed case by case.
What should we send GRIDHUB?
