Build the battery case from your site’s real load profile.
GRIDHUB assesses bills, interval data, demand charges, operating hours, solar generation and planned expansion before recommending a commercial battery pathway.
A commercial battery should solve a measurable energy problem.
The value depends on when and how the site uses electricity—not simply the battery’s headline capacity.
Manage energy and demand
- Reduce expensive and repeatable demand peaks
- Capture more onsite solar for later use
- Shift consumption between tariff periods
Support resilience and growth
- Plan backup and operational priorities
- Prepare for EV charging or equipment expansion
- Coordinate controls, monitoring and connection requirements
BESS4 and BESS5 commenced on 1 September 2026.
Certificate support is not a fixed rebate percentage. Quantities and value depend on the approved method, equipment data, network factors, project configuration, installation date and certificate market price.
Small and medium business batteries
For qualifying non-residential systems that meet the detailed equipment, installation and scheme requirements.
Commercial and industrial batteries
For qualifying commercial and industrial systems, with incentives applying only to the first 10 MWh, subject to the detailed requirements.
From interval data to a practical delivery plan.
Collect evidence
Bills, interval data, tariff, hours, major loads, solar and planned expansion.
Model value
Test demand reduction, load shifting, solar capture, cycling and resilience.
Check pathway
Confirm likely activity, site, equipment, installer, network and planning rules.
Engineer delivery
Finalise protection, connection, controls, testing, installation and monitoring.
Primary-production farms can be assessed.
Irrigation, pumping, refrigeration, processing, sheds, solar generation and operating seasons can materially affect the battery’s size and value.
Before you invest in commercial storage.
Is BESS support a guaranteed 20%–50% rebate?
No. BESS4 and BESS5 create certificates using prescribed calculations; they are not universal fixed-percentage rebates. Online figures are examples until the specific project is assessed.
What information should we provide first?
Start with recent electricity bills and, where possible, 12 months of interval data. Include operating hours, existing solar, major loads, planned EV charging or expansion and resilience requirements.
Is the largest battery usually best?
No. Capacity and inverter output should be matched to the load profile, solar, demand peaks, cycling opportunity, connection constraints and the business objective.
Official scheme information: NSW PDRS Rule and changes
Turn your electricity data into a battery business case.
Send GRIDHUB your bills and interval data or start with the BESS4/BESS5 calculator.
Important: General information only—not an eligibility approval, engineering design, quotation or guarantee of savings. Scheme rules, certificate prices and equipment requirements can change.
